St. George, Kansas – February 28, 2025 – The Board of Education for USD 323 Rock Creek Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Splichal (SPLEE-kul) as the district’s new Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Splichal brings a wealth of experience and a long track record of success in education leadership to this important role.
Mr. Splichal is currently serving as the Superintendent of Schools and Special Education Director at Fremont County School District #2 in Dubois, Wyoming.
Prior to his role in Wyoming, Mr. Splichal spent 27 years working in Kansas public schools, with his most recent tenure being the Superintendent of Eudora Public Schools for seven years. His career in Kansas also includes leadership positions as Assistant Superintendent, Middle School Principal, and Middle School Social Studies Teacher.
"Mr. Splichal has the experience, knowledge, and characteristics that our community desired and we are excited for him to begin his tenure as a Mustang. His time as a superintendent in varied districts across multiple states, along with his deep commitment to students and educators, makes him an excellent fit for our district. We are thrilled to welcome him to Rock Creek and look forward to his leadership,” said USD 323 Board President, Jared Meitler. “The Board of Education sincerely appreciates each community member for their engagement in the search for the next superintendent. From creating a thriving school community, providing input on the superintendent characteristics survey, participating in focus groups, preparing buildings and grounds, navigating disruptions to regular school routines, staying flexible through weather related disruptions, showing up for community meet-and-greets, and sharing thoughtful, thorough feedback, this was a holistic effort. The community expects excellence in all we do for our kids, and our search process and participation reflect that. Thanks in advance for your continued support and engagement as we navigate the superintendent transition."
"I am excited to join the Rock Creek family,” said Mr. Splichal. “We were inspired by the tremendous level of professionalism and commitment to providing the best opportunities for all students. We can't wait to come home."
Mr. Splichal will succeed Mrs. Joan Simoneau, who is retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
