News Update: Rock Creek High School - Flurry on Flush Basketball Tournament 12/18, 12/19, and 12/20

RC,

We wanted to share an update from our Music Department from Mrs. Janie Brokenicky. Please see below:

It's been a busy but successful spring for the students in the music department!

Yesterday, Rock Creek competed at the KSHSAA 4A State Solo and Ensemble Festival and brought home 19 top outstanding "I" ratings and 10 excellent "II" ratings! The Varsity Choir Treble Ensemble earned a Perfect Score.

Several singers also auditioned for and were selected to attend the Kansas Choral Directors Association (KCDA) All-State honor choirs this summer, which is a huge honor! They will travel to Lawrence this July to rehearse and perform at the University of Kansas under the direction of Internationally-renowned conductors.

As the semester comes to a close, the band will perform several fun pieces at Bandapalooza on Thursday, May 7th. This event is free to the public and will feature musicians grades 5-12.

The Choir Pops Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 13th in the Commons; free tickets will be available later this week for any faculty who would like to attend! We will send out the link to families to purchase tickets for $5 after that (ticket covers shirts for the kids and the choreographer). There will be some special guest appearances that you will NOT want to miss. :-)

Lastly, this coming Sunday members of the cast of SpongeBob will be traveling to Wichita to attend the Jesters Awards Ceremony for KS Musical Theater! State finalists are Gavin Smith for Squidward, Small ensemble The Electric Skates (Ava, Evan, and Taryn), Cadence Jacques for Patchy the Pirate, and Nate Bortnick for Lighting Design and Technical Achievement! Wish them luck!!!
